Summer 2022 Creative Writing Classes

Overview

Join longtime Granite educator and Director of Education Landon Funk for a week of writing, reading, and workshopping. Students will receive a packet with short stories and short narrative non-fiction by James Baldwin, Sandra Cisneros, and others. The packet will also include prompts to guide the students as well as paper to give space for their thoughts and writings.

Every day, students will read these pieces of prose and discuss them in a Socratic seminar. Students will then be given a prompt based on the reading to help them craft their own narrative. Over the course of the week, students will workshop their work with the group and Landon, resulting in a polished and finished peice that they can take pride in.
